Greetings, all. The entire Mid-Atlantic area is socked-in this weekend with clouds and rain. But our guests are enjoying their fireplaces, great dinners at area restaurants, and a wonderful break from chores at home. All in all, south central Pennsylvania and the Gettysburg area is a great place to be ! Between the raindrops are glorious views of vivid fall colors.
For those of you thinking about traveling to Gettysburg for Remembrance weekend, it's a memory waiting to be created. Gettysburg Foundation will kick off the weekend with an unveiling of a life-sized bronze sculpture of Abraham Lincoln on November 19, the anniversary of the Gettysburg Address. The sculpture will be situated at the front of the Museum and Visitor Center at Gettysburg National Military Park and is a gift from philanthropist Robert H. Smith.
The sculpture's unveiling and associated programs is the start of the Foundation's commemoration of the 146th anniversary of the Gettysburg Address. It culminates with the seventh annual Remembrance Illumination on Saturday, November, November 21. A candle will be placed on the grave of each Civil War soldier in the National Cemetery.
Come for the weekend and enjoy the Remembrance Day Parade that starts at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 21. Reenacters participate in creating an event that transport you back almost 150 years. It is a memorable day that you won't forget.
Come and stay at The Beechmont Inn. We'll welcome you with old-fashioned hospitality just as innkeepers did hundreds of years ago.
